Tokha Municipality demolishes encroached structures along Bishnumati Corridor
KATHMANDU: Tokha Municipality has initiated the removal of structures built through encroachment on public land along the Bishnumati corridor. Buildings belonging to the Community Service Centre and the Community Police Service Centre, located at the New Bus Park-based Bishnumati corridor, were demolished as part of this effort. Sher Bahadur BC, the municipality's Chief Administrative Officer, stated that the demolition of the Community Service Centre building was carried out as part of a campaign aimed at clearing structures erected on public land.
Furthermore, the municipality has commenced the removal of 82 shops constructed near the New Bus Park bridge. Prior to this, the municipality had already cleared the corridor road by dismantling illegal structures erected along the Bishnumati corridor from Manorath Tirtha to Grande Hospital. This move underscores the municipality's commitment to reclaiming public land and ensuring the proper use of urban spaces.
The actions taken by Tokha Municipality signify a proactive approach towards addressing encroachment issues and maintaining public spaces for the benefit of the community. By removing unauthorized structures along the Bishnumati corridor, the municipality aims to uphold the integrity of public land and promote orderly urban development in the area.
