Jeep accident claims 1 life and injured 7 as it veers off road in Gulmi
KATHMANDU: A fatal accident occurred in Gulmi, resulting in one fatality and injuries to seven individuals. The Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Shankar Pokharel, identified the deceased as Kamala Budhathoki, aged 32, from Bharse, Satyawati Rural Municipality-8, Gulmi. The accident involved a bolero jeep, bearing registration number Ga 2 Cha 3262, which was traveling from Purtighat to Chandrakot along an inner dirt road in Owalang, Kaligandaki Rural Municipality-4, on Monday morning. The vehicle lost control and veered off the road, resulting in the accident around 400 meters from the location.
Among the injured passengers were Keshab Rana (29), Rita Chhantal (37), Irisha Chhantal (4), Ajay Nepali (26), Tek Bahadur Kala (75), Durpati Baral (46), and Mekh Baral (23). The authorities swiftly responded to the incident, deploying a five-member team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police Ghanshyam Rimal for investigation and rescue operations.
The accident has prompted an urgent response from local law enforcement, highlighting the need for a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to the tragedy. As the injured receive medical attention and the investigation progresses, authorities are working to determine the cause of the accident and prevent similar incidents in the future.
