Godawari Municipality to provide financial aid to families of wildfire victims
KATHMANDU: Godawari Municipality has announced a financial assistance package of Rs 500,000 for each family of individuals who lost their lives while attempting to control a wildfire. The decision comes after Shankar Pahari and Ramesh Pahari, residents of Badikhel in Godawari municipality, tragically lost their lives during firefighting efforts. Milan Silwal, the spokesperson for the municipality, confirmed that the decision was made during a meeting of the municipal executive.
Madan Pantha, as Chairperson of the Naudhara Forest Users’ Committee in Godawari-3, disclosed that the area hadn't experienced a forest fire for 12 years until the recent incident. The devastating blaze resulted in the loss of lives and posed a significant threat to the surrounding community and ecosystem. In response to this tragedy, the municipality has taken the initiative to provide financial support to the affected families as a gesture of solidarity and assistance during this difficult time.
