Fire breaks out after Sourya Airlines aircraft crashes at TIA runway
KATHMANDU: A Sourya Airlines airplane has crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu around 11 a.m. on Wednesday during the process of taking off. The 19 passengers on board were scheduled to head to Pokhara. Other persons on board were crew members. The incident created fire at the airport with visible smoke from the crash scene.
The firefighters and security staff work tirelessly to extinguish the fire and bring the situation under control. Eyewitnesses reported that Captain Manish Shakya, 37, was taken to Kathmandu Medical College for treatment after being rescued from the accident site. Many questions remain unresolved about the accident.
