Fatal train collision in West Bengal with 15 dead, dozens injured
Police have reported that a tragic accident occurred near Rangapani station in West Bengal on Monday when a goods train collided with the Sealdah-bound Kanchanjunga Express. This collision resulted in the loss of at least 15 lives, while approximately 60 individuals sustained injuries.
Railway officials have indicated that the impact of the collision caused three rear compartments of the Kanchanjunga Express to derail. The locomotive of the goods train was responsible for colliding with the express train from behind.
Efforts for rescue operations are currently ongoing at the accident site, located roughly 30 kilometers from North Bengal's New Jalpaiguri station. Injured individuals are being quickly transferred to local hospitals for medical care.
