KATHMANDU: Early this morning, a jeep in the Siraha district sadly killed a Deputy Inspector of Police (DSP) from the Armed Police Force (APF). The accident happened in Kachanari, Badiyarpatti-1, a border region close to India, at around three in the morning. The 48-year-old DSP Laxman Prasad Yadav was on a normal patrol on an inner road when the jeep struck him. The car in question did not have a registered number plate.

DSP Yadav was taken to the Ram Kumar Umaprasad Memorial Provincial Hospital in Lahan right away following the collision. However, according to local police sources, he was declared dead upon arrival. At the APF's Badahari Base Camp, Yadav had been assigned.

After the incident, the jeep left the area and went in the direction of India, according to Birendra Paswan, a DSP and spokesperson at the Siraha District Police Office. Although authorities have begun searching for the car and its passengers, it has not yet been confiscated.

APF Battalion No. 7 Chief Naresh Bhandari was worried that the jeep probably drove off after observing the Nepal Police and APF joint patrol team, which would have discouraged the driver from halting. Because of the jeep's abrupt departure, detectives are looking for hints as to where it went.

Although it hasn't been confirmed yet because the jeep hasn't been apprehended, initial reports suggest that the vehicle might have been transporting booze. The facts surrounding the collision and the identity of the involved vehicle are currently being investigated.

Concerns over road safety have been raised by the horrifying incident, particularly in border areas where such incidents might lead to swift escapes into neighboring countries. Authorities are increasing their efforts to locate the vehicle and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.

The APF and the local police department are working together as part of the investigation to look for any potential witnesses or security footage that can aid in the car's whereabouts. The community is surprised and saddened by the passing of DSP Yadav, who was well-known for his dedication to his career.

While the investigation continues, officials are calling for closer coordination between Nepal Police and the APF and heightened attention in border regions to prevent such incidents in the future.
